Cheaper than dirt...

Table of Contents:
1. Food
2. Garden
3. Date Night
4. New Job!

First things first! I wanted to share a few pictures of the recipes I have been making from that cookbook. What do we have here?

Chicken Salad. It was supposed to be crab salad... but that scared me... so I used canned chicken instead. Probably would've been better with the crab... if I liked crab. Hmm... I'll figure this out eventually.

Spaghetti with meat sauce. Umm... there was nothing diet about it. Love! It was just a matter of portions, which is beautiful, because it was more than enough food, and I made extra since this is one of B-man's most favorite meals.

Creamy Pasta Salad. I followed all of the directions, including every vegetable they told me to put into it, but at the end of the day... I think I will leave some of the veggies out. BUT... I am doing this with an open mind, I tried it... and I don't like it. Boo.

Next! Number Two: Brandan and I made our garden. We have not planted yet... but we bought lumber, learned how to put the back seat down, brought it home, built it, put dirt and cow poop in it... voilĂ ! Garden!

We took turns dumping in back of top soil, potting soil, pete moss, and compost (cow poop!).

"B-man! Be careful, we paid for that dirt?!"
"Yeah? Was it cheaper than dirt?"
"No... I think it cost about the same as dirt."

We're going to plant Cucumbers, Beets, Onions, Yellow and Green Summer Squash, Carrots, Spinach and Potatoes. Actually... the potatoes are done. They're layered in the orange tub. They're Yukon Gold potatoes.

The dogs got to be outside... all day. I really think they enjoyed it, since that does not happen very often.

I'm surprised they are so active and vocal right now, I figured they would be worn out!

Item of business # 3: We went out tonight. Because we woke up pretty late, and we both had an excess of calories to spend, we decided to go out to dinner. We didn't get dessert like we tend to do. Then we went and saw "Date Night" which was REALLY funny. I was kind of worried it would be a tad bit stressful, but I found myself laughing... a lot! If you like Tina Fey, or that boss guy from the Office, then you will probably love this movie.

LASTLY! I apparently have a new job...
As Zuko's bed.

I was pretty exhausted, and B-man was doing the dishes, and I just wanted to go to bed, and apparently I was taking up too much of the couch. Serves me right I guess!

Go-go-go-party!

Today I took a moment to love the dogs. I have been rather busy lately with volunteering, finishing up midterms, and trying to sleep. Lately, every time something happens I'm like "stop! I need to grab the camera!" But today the B-man took it upon himself to capture this moment. I'm happy he did, I love those dogs! It was nice to take a break from the "Go-go-go" of life, and just be loved.

After a good snuggle it was time to start in on dinner. We were having four other people over this evening, so I decided to do something easy. I will be honest - I did make too much, but Mr. BH showed up and wasn't hungry... or there would've been less left overs. That ok. So, the ingredient list is as follows:
I also used a few things I already had at home, like Taco Seasoning, and refried beans. I am kind of shocked that I bought pre-shredded lettuce, but to be honest, it was cheaper, the heads of lettuce looked pretty crappy, and it saved me a little work. I'm usually against this. lol.

I ended up being unable to use the avocado, which is a bummer, but it just wasn't ripe enough, and the guacamole turned out kind of gritty. Yuck!

I fried up the onion, made the chicken per the instructions on the taco seasoning, and then mixed the two. Toasted the shells, heated the soft tortillas, put out the diced tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream, along with salsa, and some refried beans. Ta-da! Taco Bar! lol.

I also made home made chips. Taking the small corn tortillas I cut them so that each tortilla made six chips (not just four), and then I fried them in peanut oil, aid them out to dry on a cookie rack, and salted them. I'll have to get a picture of this rack, it's pretty nifty, as it is like three wracks that stack on top of each other. :)

Any way, we had a bunch of people over, and it was a lot of fun. We played Apples to Apples, and then a couple rounds of Clue. I had not played that game in a long time, so it was kind of interesting.

Now I am just waiting for my dear husband to finish up the dishes. As soon as he finishes we are going to bed. Tomorrow I am volunteering from 9 to... 4 ish... I think. So I should probably go back myself a lunch, and head to bed! Can you imagine, me, waking up before 9!!! Ridiculous!

Spring Break is almost half over... I need to do some of this "relaxing" I've heard so much about. What is your favorite way to relax?

Food, glorious food!

So Brandan and I went to Texas Roadhouse this evening. I had a coupon. Then we went to Petsmart, since it was right next door. And we bought dog food. Lots of it.

And no, it's not all for Zuko, there is one bag for each dog. And we bought the big bags because in the long run it's cheaper. But seriously! Almost $100 in dog food. I do love my puppies though. Gretel is doing so well. For an 11 year old dog you would never guess! She jumps around and plays and gets super excited. I am so happy that she came to live with us. Even though we don't have the yard for her, she is so happy and healthy and doing much better than I expected. Brandan just brought the dogs in...

"They both peed and pooped.
It was wonderful."

And as Zuko rings the bell to go out again (it's a lie... he just like being outside), I think Brandan is ready for the next step. We have had the dogs a year, and none have died, or even had anything bad happen... it's baby time... right? lol. Just kidding!

My birthday is next Tuesday. I don't think it will feel much like a birthday, what with all of the homework and tests scheduled for that day. But Brandan is going to make me dinner and a cake and we're going to just spend the evening (after 8:15 when I get home) together.
